Exclusive Northern Ontario Fly-In Fishing Trips

Welcome to Sydney Lake Lodge located in the Northern Ontario wilderness where few have fished before you. This area is rare and protected as a limited access wilderness park and UNESCO world heritage site.

Remoteness has kept this corner of Northern Ontario pristine with fishing that is exceptional, it has been designated part of Ontario's Trophy Waters. The park, heritage site and trophy waters area gives you an exclusive setting for a Northern Ontario fly-in fishing trip like no where else.

Get further from the ordinary, where no car can travel. Sydney Lake is fly-in only, reached by a 62 mile flight on a float equipped sea plane from River Air Service out of downtown Kenora Ontario.

Get ready for a fantastic mix of walleye, lake trout and northern pike fishing in the heart of the rugged Canadian Shield. Fish from 16' Lund boats with 20hp electric start motors and get in and out of your boat easier with handy grab rails.

Stay in comfort with features including free ice, comfortable matresses, screened porches and pellet stoves. We believe that the little things that make your Canadian fly-in fishing trip in 2025 even better.

Remarkable Fishing

Sydney and Kilburn Lakes feature some of the best fly in fishing in Northern Ontario.

Walleye enjoy the benifits of a mixture of warm dark and cold clear waters covering a diverse range of habitat. The walleye fishing on Sydney is legendary. Catch fish after fish, lots of big ones too - we are certain that you will be impressed.

Sydney Lake has a large clear cold deep main basin and three trout subspecies give variety to remarkable lake trout fishing.

Numerous of small creeks and shallow bay with jagged rocky points falling off to deeper water make northern pike fishing a blast, but beware, many of the largest pike will dummy weak lines, lack of leaders or light weight fishing equipment.

Welcome to the excitement of a fly in fishing trip in Canada.

Fly-In Trips

Fly-in and fish exclusive waters on Sydney and Kilburn Lakes, there are no other resorts here, no towns - we are secluded and remote.

Sydney Lake is a deep lake with a large volume, there are many shallow bays which are highly productive for fish reproduction. Kilburn Lake is mainly shallow and has one deep bay.

Bring the guys or the family, we offer special rates for groups and children.

See for miles right from your doorstep with all cabins having fantastic views of the lake. Enjoy the sceened in porches in your cabin or from our two lakeshore gazebos. Great for lazy afternoon reads and ecxiting stories from the events of the day.

Conservation

You can thank 30 years of catch & release of larger fish for the impressive quality of the fishery. Catching high numbers and large average size will continue through conservation now and in the future.

Careful release of fish is very important, survival rate is determined by the length of time that they are out of the water. Fish on stringers should not be released, studies show an 85% death rate.

To ensure the healthy release of fish barb less hooks/lures (flattened barbs) are requested. We have a trophy-fish conversion chart  this helps to convert your trophy length for walleye, northern pike and lake trout

Thank you for your participation, it will keep fly-in fishing at Sydney Lake amongst the best anywhere. You will continue to enjoy the results

Shore Lunch

Shore Lunch

There are countless shore lunch locations around the lakes for you to enjoy. If the weather is not to your liking cook the fish right outside your cabin in one of the propane fish cookers or gas bbq's. there is even a smoker that you are welcome to use.

My favourite secret to great tasting walleye that is beyond the ordinary is to cook it in lard. Try that on your favourite recipie and youl be sure to win even more fans.

Cooked on a hot crackling fire or a propane cooker, nothing beats a fresh walleye shore lunch. All the grates, cookers, pots, pans and cooking utensils that you need for a delicious lunch is right here waiting for you.
